Introduction
Hello, my name is Victor and I am a gamer with degenerative myopia since I was born. To give some context, I have to wear glasses when I am 2 years old and to this day, I have lost more than 90% of my vision. I could not read any text for more than 10 years without using a Windows enlargement of 700% to be read in all games and recently the narrator has become my favorite accessibility tool. This is my review of Breakpoint Ghost Recon from the Low Vision perspective.
In the settings I found the most useful image calibration option. Brightness and contrast are people who make big differences. Quality of texture, shadow quality, and anything that makes things that are sharper also helps when your vision is low. I disable motion blur because it makes everything more blurred and more difficult to note. I deactivated Antialasi for the same reason.

There is a problem with the settings menu itself. The text is generally too small and has a gray text above the dark background that is difficult to see. The maximum level of the enlargement zoom does not help because the image becomes too pixelated. I can’t read or see the option description. The mouse must be directed to the option to display the description and so I can’t use Windows Magnifier to read it.

Every time I click on the option to change, I have difficulty finding where the choice is. This is too confusing because every time a dropdown appears, I don’t see where it is so I have to look for it to focus my eyes and read it. I miss the left/right arrow to change my option instead of dropdown. Large size is not large enough in some settings where extra large will help me, such as with enemy markers, but heavy backgrounds are very helpful. Thanks to these options, I can see more things, especially booty and ammunition boxes. I like the minimal in this game, but I also want to have the choice to always remain because this type of minimal type allows me to find enemies and navigate the world very well, while the compass at the top of the screen in other games is not useful for me.
The interface option is very useful. I set UI to the full size and all backgrounds were all arranged to weight. This level of customization makes everything easier.

I can’t read the description of the icon on the map. The texts are in a floating window so it is impossible to read with Windows enlargers as explained earlier. However, by manually selecting the mission on the map I can see the mission activities shown in the selected list of activities.

This also happens in other areas of UI. I cannot see and understand what I should do in the description of the mission goals for weapons and attachments. The UI method is displayed is very confusing for me.

I also can’t use a weapons/mod shop. There is no way to see weapons statistics other than floating descriptions. I cannot read statistics, names or types of weapons. However, in the loadout I can check the status of weapons and equipment by right -clicking. I can also quickly see the score of the teeth of the weapons/equipment in the numbers displayed next to each.

Breakpoint Ghost Recon is the perfect game for having a narrator. I was surprised that there was no narrator in this game when I needed it most, especially when the game had such a description. Only have it in the menu like in Division 2 will be a big help for players with low vision like me. If there is a way to make it work with text in the description of items / statistics / mission goals, it will be extraordinary and delete many UI problems described earlier.
After in the game I can see the interaction of asking or controlling reminders on Hud but I cannot read or see which buttons to be pressed. This also makes it difficult to interrogate the target because I don’t know which enemies I need to take or what key is the interrogation uses. But even if they are bigger it won’t help, only if it’s narrated. Right now what I learned is through try -try, so once I managed to think about things like what Key did what was good. I can see easily the box from afar and ammunition thanks to the size and background. Interactions with NPCs such as talking are okay because sound cues make me realize something appears and with a non -moving camera I can use Windows enlargement to check the options of interaction. For the lobby menu, I have to use screenshots and open paint to see options to interact with my teammates like joining, kicks, mute. I prefer to walk or helicopter. Driving a land vehicle is not good. It’s hard to see the road. I use a helicopter many times because this is the best way to travel in the game for me.
It would be very good if I could check my distance from the destination in the list of activities chosen at this time. I can’t see the distance displayed in the world.
Manual markers are very useful when I see the highlight showing the camp. I don’t have the right perception about the landing place near the tent, so I make a manual and become easy to find out the right location. This function facilitates almost everything related to exploration. Whether it’s boxes, weapons, vehicles or civilians with information that I can go and know where everything is.

Gameplay is much easier after I get thermal vision. This allows me to see very well, making the experience much better so it is difficult to express with words.

The minimum is extraordinary. I hope you can do more minimap like that. I usually use it to see the objective markers that I find the best way to guide me. But my teammate can have more contrast. I wasted too much time to find my teammates. I tried to change the “HUD marker teammate” to “always” but only had “dynamic and never”. It is much easier to see them when the names and levels of the players are displayed.
It is much easier for me to see things when they move because of low contrast in general. Often the character stands still makes it very difficult to see it, especially in situations when I need to drop one or two holding enemies. The way I found that I stop killing hostages is to use a drone to do work for me. Drones can only shoot enemies so that it has become my favorite way to save civilians.
Also if I mark the enemy and leave the area without killing them, they are still marked forever and finally confusing me a lot because it seems to me all the time. I think it should be fun to show a marker when we are closer or delete it. Sometimes I go to check them so I can kill them but they are like 2 km.
Very good when the enemy starts talking when I get closer. That allows me to find out where they are, so in that case the sound gesture works very well. The car can do more noise, sometimes I don’t even hear the car coming but in general the sound is extraordinary! One of my biggest aids is present in this game: Hit Sound Markers. I can hear every bullet about my target! I miss this in another game and have it here makes all the differences.
Able to change from the appearance of the first and 3rd person perfect! Players Ping (Aim+Q) can blink to make it easier to see it. I have to ask many times to ping me at me, but I see it mostly time.
Text-to-Speech doesn’t work for me. This is stuttering all the time. I can’t hear what my teammates said to me. Can’t make the greetings also function. It never recognized my voice. Only voice chat that functions properly.

I am a big fan of stealth and shooting games and breakpoint for me.
Unfortunately, there are many obstacles between me and the game. I have difficulty in almost everything related to UI. Description of the mission is difficult to read so that understanding what I have to do is not possible for me, even with those chosen I don’t see visual markers for the target. For example when you have to kill a certain target, crush the truck … I don’t see the marker but when someone shows me when playing co-op, I can do it well because my teammates told me. Also UI needs some jobs because I don’t even know that it’s like character customization, weapons customization. Gray -gray gray on a dark gray is not a good choice for lack of contrast. This can be improved by high contrast mode for UI or narrator.
Overall Ghost Recon Breakpoint is an extraordinary game that can give you a solid experience when everything works. As I mentioned before and the sound works better for me in this game than other people. Thanks to the minimum I can see the enemy relatively easy and thanks to the sound that I know what is happening around me (approaching the helicopter, will be seen by the enemy, hitting / missing when I shoot …). I found a way around the problem. For example, to avoid killing civilians, I shot air, civilians squat and I can see the enemy better using thermal vision.
Although it hurts to read in the game and find out how to take certain actions, the game, on the other hand, there is a tool to guide me around the world, making me feel sinking and continuing.
